Can Dating a Momma's Boy Work?

Mommy's Boy

What can you do if his mommy is controlling his life even now after he moved in with you?
For him she is the perfect woman and there is nothing you can do as good as she does. It drives you crazy that she manages to bring you some critics at every visit. Your first instinct is of course to fight with both of them, but this will only get you further away from the man you love. There for your only chance to win this war is to become best friend with the ''devil''.
Tell her how lucky you are that your boyfriend has such a mother. Never talk bad to him about her no matter how much you feel the need to do it.

Communication is also very important. This way he will start telling you his problems and not to his mother. Call her as often as you can to ask her opinion about things even if you don't really need it.

With out even noticing you become their best friend and guess who is the ''boss'' now?

Turning Hanging out Into a Date

How to Go From Friend To Girlfriend

Spend some alone time. Do you usually hang out with a big group? Make an effort to spend time with just him, so you can see if the spark is there. Go to the beach together, take a walk, do something competitive or something you both enjoy.

Let him see you differently. Are you usually just one of the guys? If the answer is yes, try letting him see you as more sexual and female than he has before. Wear something that you feel confident and sexy in. No need to get dressed up! A fitted tee shirt and nice jeans will do.

Challenge him. Dare him to do something, try to beat him a video game, make a bet. You can spark his fire in a new way. Maybe he will see you differently when you playfully challenge him. This allows shows confidence in yourself, which is crucial to any relationship.

Be there for him and confide in him too. If he is having a rough day, let him know you are there to listen. This strengthens your bond and may show him that you can be a good girlfriend as well as friend. By asking his advice, you flatter him and let him see that you value his opinion.

Do a project together. Learning something new or taking on a challenge together will cement your relationship and give you the chance to work together and have fun. Learn a new recipe, take a class together, or just go somewhere you have never been before.

Make the first move. This isn’t the 1800s anymore. If you feel it is right to kiss him, go for it. He probably won’t mind! If he isn’t as interested as you, then talk out it. Tell him you thought a spark was there, but realized you two are better off as just friends. Be sincere and make sure he understands that you really do value the friendship!

Dating ...The Guys?

Make Friends With Your Guy's Friends

Find out what they like to do and get good at it. Pool? Darts? Golf? If you can get good enough to play the game, they will appreciate it. You will also have something to do as a group, if your guy wants you to hang out with them.

Drink beer not cosmopolitans. Fancy martinis and fruity cocktails are the epitome of wimpy girl drinks. Try to order something a little more manly (obviously make sure you like it). Scotch, whiskey, and of course beer are all excellent choices. Drinking is bonding and relaxing as a group.

Don’t sit there like a lump but don’t be overly loud or obnoxious. Men will remark on these things later to your guy. Be relaxed but don’t try to impress them with jokes you thought were funny inside your head...

Don’t gossip. Never ever gossip. Men hate talking about Shirley’s new boyfriend and why he is wrong for her. Remember, guys hardly ever prattle or chatter, that simply isn’t how they communicate.

Be prepared for some friendly jesting. If they are comfortable with you, get ready for some teasing. Take it like a lady and don’t be afraid to throw it back their way. Never take it seriously! It means they like you.

Don’t be all over your man. A friendly touch here and there is all you need. The last thing he wants is for them to think he has a needy, clingy girlfriend. You can be chill, and he will definitely appreciate it.

Don’t get offended. There is inevitably more burping, farting, cursing, and generally rude conversation when men spend time together. That is just how they are. You don’t need to participate, but don’t be surprised when you see a side of your guy that you have never seen before.

Don’t overstay your welcome. If you were there just to get drinks with them, then leave it at that. They want to spend time with your boyfriend and hopefully tell him how awesome you are. This way, you’re never “that girl who is always taking up Mike’s time.”

7 Tips for a Valentine's Day that Won't Break Your Budget

How to Celebrate Valentine's Day on a Budget

Seven Tips to Celebrate Your Valentine's Day on A Budget

Enjoy a Candlelit Dinner Instead

If you have the place to yourself, celebrate Valentine's day with a candlelit dinner. Why bother dining at those crowded, hectic and expensive restaurants? You can cook a wonderful candlelit dinner at home for much less. If you have a wine bottle that you haven't opened yet, pull that out instead of overpriced restaurant wine. Even the act of cooking together can be a romantic experience, give it a shot.

Drop the obligation to buy pricy gifts

Another way to celebrate Valentine's day on a budget is to come to a mutual agreement with your partner to axe the obligation to buy expensive gifts. If you're saving up for a life together then remember that is more important than any gift. Consider putting off pricy presents until you are financially secure. If you're an established couple just having a tough time in the current economic situation, remember that there will be plenty of opportunities to splurge when the economy picks up.

Utilize inexpensive or free gifts

You can celebrate Valentine's day on a budget by exchanging free or inexpensive gifts instead. Guys, most women seem to love chocolate and/or roses and these are relatively inexpensive gifts. Speaking slightly tongue-in-cheek to all you women out there: you probably know by now that there is one free gift that your man is guaranteed to love. If you're at a point in your relationship where that is acceptable to you, then what better day is there for it? Other free gift ideas for men: promise your woman a massage or complete that painting, cleaning or repair job your woman has been asking you to do for years! Maybe even watch a "chick flick" with her! For women: give your man a back rub or promise not to interrupt him next time "the game" is on (or better yet, root his team on with him!)

Back to where it all began

Return to the scene. Another fun way to celebrate Valentine's day on a budget is to take a trip to the place where you first met, where you had your first date, where you got engaged, etc. and relive the memory!

Revisit Memories

If you're the sentimental type then chances are you keep a box of souvenirs of your relationship: photos, movie or game ticket stubs, postcards, love letters and so on. These souvenirs tend to just sit there forever just taking up space. How about bringing them out on Valentine's day and going through them with your lover? This can be a fun way to celebrate and relive all the fun times you've had together!

Whatever happened to conversation?

Snuggle up in a blanket by the fire and... talk. Yes, talk. Sometimes in relationships we get so caught up in events and material items that we lose focus of where our priorities should be. Celebrate this Valentine's Day on a budget by straightening those priorities out. Reconnect with your partner, their hopes, dreams, fears and the person that they really are.

Cherish What You Have

Celebrate Valentine's day on a budget by cherishing what you have. We too often get caught up in material wealth as opposed to the genuine wealth of love and companionship. Again, somewhat of a cliche here but the fact is that love is priceless. Remember that many spend their entire lives looking for what you have, and don't find it. Remind yourself that love is the most precious possession of all and that it is far better to celebrate Valentine's day on a budget than it is to not celebrate it at all.
